Birding country
Uitvlugt Resort sits in one of the better birding regions in the country, with over 418 recorded bird species. The property links into Rust de Winter Dam and Nature Reserve, and into the wider Dinokeng Big-5 Game Reserve. Habitats run from acacia savanna to dry woodland to riverine forest along the Elands River and Rust de Winter Dam.
Common sightings include kingfishers, bee-eaters, waders, and raptors. Stork sightings include marabou, saddle-billed, and Abdim's storks. Seasonal migrants push the population up by as much as 20% in peak periods.
